What to Do During Your Elopement
elopement and micro wedding activity ideas and advice
Short answer: anything you want!
Long answer: You’ll most likely want to strike the balance between something you both love to do and something you don’t do so often that it won’t feel special.
Since it’s just the two of you (or perhaps a very few additional loved ones), we can take things slow and not worry as much about structure to your day as we would with larger guest counts.
Make it personal
Think of your elopement as one big day-long date with a ceremony tucked somewhere in it.
What’s important to you as a couple? What’s your ideal way to celebrate each other and how far you’ve come together?
Here are some ideas to get you started:
City & Urban Elopements
Hop over to the courthouse, then celebrate with a meal at your favorite restaurant
Take a few hours to wander local art galleries and museums. Bonus points if you purchase an art piece to hang in your home!
Find a local farmer’s, flea, or artisan market and buy each other wedding day gifts
Dedicate your elopement to your favorite city: have breakfast at the coffeeshop down the street, get married at the park with the best view (with a champagne picnic, OBVIOUSLY), then celebrate at a restaurant in town. Don't forget to pick up a locally made souvenir to commemorate your day!
Rural & nature elopements
Hiking, then a picnic and slow dancing at your ceremony spot
Camping in your favorite place, then cooking dinner together and watching the sunset
Rent a stunning AirBnB and play games, cook together, and get married on the porch
Take a long, relaxing soak in the hot springs
Rent a camper van and make a road trip out of it! Bonus points if you visit places that are special to you and your relationship
Dedicate your elopement to your favorite mountain town: have breakfast at your AirBnB, get married on a local hike, then celebrate at a restaurant in town. Don't forget to pick up a locally made souvenir to commemorate your day!
Make a dang day of it
No matter how long your photography coverage is for, I want you to really make an experience out of this elopement. Unless you have a honeymoon planned somewhere else, there's no sense just popping in to do your ceremony and leaving. Tack on a day or a week to explore the area and enjoy each other's company as a married couple. Try out local restaurants, wander Main Street hand in hand, duck into small businesses and buy each other presents. Or submerge yourself in local nature with hiking, camping, and outdoor sports.
