Julianne + Sasa Elopement Locations

Ceremony Locations

These are the most accessible ceremony spots (zero or very little walking) that overlook the beach.

Smith River Beach – This is the spot by the cemetery I mentioned! It’s on a very quiet street in a tiny town, so lots of privacy. There’s a short, sandy walk (maybe 100-150 feet) up to the overlook, but that’s the extent of walking/hiking. It overlooks the beach and the haystacks, and there’s a big stand of trees to the right. It’s located 15 minutes south of Brookings.

Pros:

  • quiet street

  • very accessible

Cons:

  • 15 minutes south of Brookings

Chetco Point Park – This stunning outcrop is right in the middle of Brookings. There’s a paved path to the haystack, then it opens up to an earthy spot where we could have your ceremony. When it’s not foggy, it overlooks the coast, Brookings, and obviously, the ocean. The only thing to mention is that you have to park and walk past the water treatment plant to get to the haystack.

Pros:

  • in Brookings

  • mostly paved

Cons:

  • parking and trailhead is next to water treatment plant

Portrait Locations

If you two are up for exploring/driving/hiking after your ceremony, there are SO many gorgeous spots along the coast. Listed in order of drive time from Brookings.

Harris Beach State Park - 0-5 minutes

Lots of rocks, greenery, driftwood, and some haystacks! This is in Brookings, so would require zero drive time. Not as “epic” as some of the other options, but if staying in Brookings is a priority, this is a great option.

Samuel H Boardman State Park (10-15 minutes)

Secret Beach (left photo) – One of the most well-known spots in southern Oregon in Samuel H. Boardman state park. It’s a steep, switchback-ed hike down to the beach (NOT for anyone with mobility issues), but short and well worth it.

Thunder Rock Cove/Seal Point (right photo) – In the same park, so only a few miles down the road (you can actually take a fork from the same trailhead). A super easy, flatter trail less than a mile long that opens up to a great view.

From these two overlooks, we can run around the beach or stay cozied up in the trees! This park is very popular, so we’ll have other folks on the trails with is, but a Monday in November shouldn’t be busy!

Ariya’s Beach/Pistol River (25 minutes)

If you’re looking for coastal grasses and haystacks on the beach, Ariya’s Beach and Pistol River is a really pretty spot! It’s farther from Brookings, but more private than Samuel H Boardman.

Sisters Rock (45 minutes)

A very quiet pull off from 101 with long trails along the haystacks. It’s the farthest option, but better for the biggest rocks and most open views.
